How to choose the right drumsticks
Stick labels are useful starting points, but the right pair is the one that feels controlled and suits the instrument, volume and music you play.

5A is a common general-purpose starting point. A 7A is typically slimmer and lighter in the hand, while larger sticks can offer more reach, weight and volume.
Notice balance and response
