How to clean and care for cymbals

Start with dry, gentle cleaning

Remove fingerprints and dust with a clean soft cloth. Follow the cymbal maker’s care guidance before applying any cleaner, especially on brilliant, traditional, dark or intentionally aged finishes.

Avoid aggressive products and pressure

Household abrasives and forceful polishing can affect logos, coatings and surface character.

• Support the cymbal while cleaning
• Work gently with the tonal grooves
• Keep liquids away from sleeves and felts

Store and mount cymbals correctly

Use suitable sleeves, felts and washers so metal parts do not contact the centre hole. Transport cymbals in a protective bag or case and avoid placing heavy objects on them.
